FAITH

FAITH IN ACTION - FAITH

Create annual opportunities for prayer and reflection together as a fraternity. Under the guidance of their chaplain, councils can attend a retreat or day of reflection together or perhaps organize their own event for the men of their parish.

Our goal is to strengthen men and their families in the Catholic faith. Formation in our faith goes beyond mere facts or religious practice to an authentic connection with a loving God and his son Jesus Christ.

As a fraternal organization of Catholic men, the Knights of Columbus has strong ties to the Church.

A sampling of Bel Air Council’s charitable work in this area:

October St. Mark Weekend Mass Rosary Program: At every weekend Mass, a Knight from Bel Air Council will lead the congregation in one decade of the Rosary. October is On the first Friday in December we pay for, cook and serve lunch to about 250 seniors at no cost to the Church.

December St. Mark’s Winter Wonders: The Winter Wonders is a bazaar type) event at St. Mark’s. It no longer fits in their McCall Center. Bel Air Council was present in the form of assisting at Winter Wonders and roaming the grounds providing buttons/pins that support our “Keep Christ in Christmas” campaign. Bel Air Council also assisted by having some signs printed to guide people around the event.

Shrove Tuesday Dinner: Our Council has provided a complimentary Shrove Tuesday Dinner (Hot Cakes, Eggs, Sausage, and Bacon with beverages) to the Council and St. Mark’s Parish. We feed approximately 300 people at no cost to the Church.

Holy Hour – every Friday: as Knights we want to encourage deep a personal encounter with God and create or support opportunities to for prayer and reflection together as a fraternity. Bel Air Council supports Eucharistic Adoration at St. Margaret every Friday in the main church. Exposition is at 8:00pm. The Sacrament of Reconciliation with Fr. Matt in the baptistery (through the glass doors by the rear of the nave), Benediction is at 9:00pm. Come to worship our Lord at night, in the dark and smoky silence. At the end of a long week take some time to be quite. God speaks in silence. Adoration is a beautiful devotion and we have a sacred responsibility to share it with our bride and our children.

Support to Vocations: to Knights it is important to keep the faith alive by supporting our seminarians and postulants. As the strong right arm of the church, Knights of Columbus are committed to providing moral, financial and spiritual support to our future priests and religious at all stages of their formation.

Rosary Program: Knights promote devotion to the rosary in our families and parishes. We build faithful families and communities through rosary prayer. At Bel Air Council a small group of volunteers is busy making rosaries for the First Holy Communion and Confirmation classes for next year. The rosaries will be donated to St. Margaret and St. Mark parishes to be presented to the children who will be receiving these Holy Sacraments in the April/May time frame.
